Hybrids are securities that combine elements of debt securities and equity securities. Examples of hybrid securities are convertible debt securities, preference shares, capital notes and perpetual bonds (bonds that do not have a maturity date).
To enter new investments in Hybrids:
From the ASSETS TAB, select ADD NEW ASSET.
Click ADD NEW ASSET.
Select the Account.
Select the Asset Class (Hybrids) and Asset Category (Domestic or Foreign).
In the Holding drop down, select whether this is:
- A new holding and new parcel. (i.e. You are entering a Stock Code and an additional quantity of shares) OR
- A new holding (i.e. You are entering a Stock Code only)
NOTE: When you have hybrid investments listed, you may wish to add an additional parcel. Once you have investments listed, you will see the stock codes for each under ”Your Holdings” in the Holding drop down, and you can select the stock code for the hybrid security to which you wish to add.
Enter the Stock Code for the Hybrid Security you are entering. When you start to type a Stock Code, a popup list will display from which you can choose the correct asset. The full asset name will display in the Asset Name field?
Enter your Holder Identification Number (HIN), your Security Reference Number (SRN) and the Holder Number.
Enter the date you purchased this security by selecting from the Purchase Date calendar popup.
Enter the Total Cost (not the per unit cost) of the security and the Volume purchased (number of shares or units).
Select the bank or loan account from which you drew funds to pay for this investment.
Click SAVE ASSET or SAVE & ADD ANOTHER if you have more Investments to add.
